Deputy Commissioner Launches AAAPlay's New Initiative

24th August 2016

Deputy Commissioner Miranda Bruyniks helped to launch an exciting new initiative by Access for All Abilities Play this morning in an event.

The new “Captain Access” animations created by AAA Play are designed to encourage people with a disability to get involved in regular sport and recreation activities. The animated characters include:

  • Lila Adams who loves swimming
  • Mohawk Jones who started playing basketball again after a car accident
  • Captain Access who helps people with all abilities get the chance to play sport or become involved with physical recreation

The Deputy Commissioner was delighted to be part of the launch. She said at the event, “The Disability Services Commissioner has two goals, to promote the rights of people with a disability and to resolve complaints about disability services. We believe in the right to be included and to participate in every aspect of society. That’s why we support the team at AAA Play.”

Visit the new AAA Play website to learn more about how to get involved with sport and recreation for people with all abilities.
